Classmate Comments

Dear CHS classmates:

With many hugs, laughter and tears we swept away 50 (and in some cases 60) years and picked up right where we left off!   Cherished friends are a balm to the heart and food for the soul.  It was simply grand.

Many many thanks to the huge effort of all the organizers who put this together and pulled it off perfectly.   Loved the CHS tour and afterwards the Charcoaler, welcome reception was great and the venues and parties at Diane and Dave’s home and the EPCC were just beautiful – no detail left unfinished.  It just went by too fast!

With gratefulness for all of you.           Maridell Collins Monnheimer

Hi You All,

Just wanted to give each of you a huge shout out for such a fun and from my perspective tremendously successful reunion.  It was a great weekend in EP, seeing old friends, even making new ones, and just feeling really good about all of us.  As a group, I think we're holding up pretty well.

So thank you, thank you for all your hard work.  It really paid off.

Fondly,

Jeff Pine and Tom Morris

This reunion was a 5 star. Absolutely fabulous. All of the events were wonderful.

Highs:  going back to Coronado. How fun was that to see all the new facilities. Growth of meaningful academic and extracurricular activities. Thanks Clay Vandertulip.

Charcoaler: what fun was that to go and enjoy our old HS hangout with schoolmates.

Dinner at Diane Egbert Bernard’s Home:  what a beautiful home and backyard setting.  Weather cooperated, fine food, drinks and friends. Thanks Diane for sharing your home.

Tour of Plaza Theatre: magnificent venue. World class. El Paso is really becoming a destination. Thanks Joe Alcantar.

Dinner/Music at EP CC: what a great time. Great food, great music, and great video. Man was it fun.

But the real kicker is thanks Class of 1970 for your friendship and memories. For me, time evaporated. Seeing former classmates brought back wonderful memories. My HS years were wonderful and this reunion reflected how our generation has prospered and benefitted our world. Reading classmate bios and visiting with old classmates really made me appreciate what Coronado helped prepare us to do, change the world.

Thanks for offering the Franklin Mountain Hike and the Yoga Class.  I did not participate but thanks for providing those events.

Just a great time. My wife, Rose Ann summarized her time by saying “what a great group of people your class was to meet and mingle.” I could not have said it better. She had a blast.

Thanks Reunion Committee for all your work. Just remember, Coronado is the Pride of the Westside. It was then and still is.

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you again for the wonderful time that myself and so many others had celebrating our 50+1 reunion.

The planning for these events were well thought out and the renewal of old friendships and the closeness I felt with friends that weren’t really that close so many years ago were absolutely amazing.

Maybe I’m just getting soft in (our couple of years older) or my faith in the fact that we’ve made it this far after what some of us have been through gives us all the more reason to celebrate.

Thank you again for the trip down memory lane.

Just one of those guys,              Jim Hill

First and foremost, kudos to the committee for the awesome job it did in organizing the reunion weekend. Thank you for such a professional job done on all aspects of the event. Although,  I only attended the Saturday night dinner and dance, I'm sorry I didn't plan on attending more of the functions. What fun to see old friends and classmates!!!   In my opinion, nothing could have been more perfect. Thanks again for the lovely time I had.

Just want to say what a great job you all did!

Thank you!

.

It  was outstanding.

I am recalling the genuine joy in people in being together again, seeing faces from early days and times.  Many relationships were continued, many discovered anew, and for me, just a marvel of being together. What enduring relationships we formed in CHS!

I enjoyed the smiles, laughter, and tears that are the reminders of special people, times and activities. The Class of 70 was all that, and more.

The Reunion schedule, the events and the time to visit were perfect! It appeared seamless to those of us fortunate to attend, but I know that successful events are never without challenges. Just know how appreciative I am for you. and the team's efforts. There may not ever be another, or one as grand, but this was a huge blessing to me.

Several locals I have seen since are still talking about it. It was amazing, and fun.

The friendships born in our youth are among the richest of all.

Hugs/abrazos, and great affection!

CHS 1970 REUNION COMMITTEE thank you for the pleasures of videos, pictures, and especially the toast from Bob Williamson. I am sorry to have missed the events. Cancer doesn't meet our time schedule it is on it's  own (not mine). Maybe the next time around.

Lots of love to my CHS comrades. ENJOY LIFE. IT IS SHORT.

Thank you all for a SUPER reunion!  It was so much fun to see folks after 51 years - some of which I remembered better than others, and some which remembered me.  The reunion - and each of the activities that I attended - were exceptionally well organized and conducted.  It was the only reunion I’ve attended.  My time was well spent.  Kudos to all who planned it and those who executed - WELL DONE!!!

Many, many thanks to the committee that made our Reunion a huge success!

                                           Bob (aka Bobby) Gilbert

Committee, just wanted to thank you for a superb reunion last weekend.  It was great to see and visit with each of you, and I could see the extraordinary planning and attention to detail that helped make it the success it was.  Thank you, and here’s hoping we can do another one in 10 (5?) years.

Also, although I am not at liberty to tell you my source, someone from the Class of 1969 advised me that she thought our reunion was far better organized and more professionally done than hers was.

Thanks again, and hope you all enjoy at least a few days of well-deserved rest.

 Scott Hunsaker

Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard to make the reunion memorable. It was great to see and talk to folks that I haven't seen in half a century, especially friends from the old neighborhood. Enabling us to make and maintain connections so we can keep in touch was a smart addition. Well done!

We were a stand out dynamic graduating class back then and we still are dynamic and outstanding! It was a very well organized and fun several days at the reunion. A huge round of applause and gratitude for all the helpers behind the scenes. Let's keep trying to locate our missing people. Thank you and YES! Let's keep in touch.
